Download a blank calendar sheet (doc).
Download page one and page two of my sample calendar (pdfs).
The assignment sheet is below. (If you don't see it, click 'More'.)
You will create a 3 month calendar, featuring a different poem for each month. (Students looking for a challenge can also do poems we did not read together as a class). The months of the calendar are entirely your choice. (However, please make the date correct.) Each month needs to feature the following items:
· The poem, or at least 10 lines of the poem. Choose the lines which demonstrate what you discuss in the other sections.
· An illustration for the poem. This should fill most of the page and should be original. You can choose how to create your illustration, but it will be graded on its ability to reflect some meaning of the poem.
· A paragraph that explains the general theme of the poem. Use the details of the poem to explain how the theme is developed.
· A paragraph that identifies a specific poetic technique and explains how and why the author uses that technique. You should attach that technique to the theme you established in the other paragraph, and you should choose different techniques for each of the three poems you look at.
I will provide a copy of the calendar sheet. You can also download a blank from the web site. (http://www.mnkilmer.com/English/)
